Contract Position Overview:

Cotopaxi is searching for an Independent Contractor to take on the role of Apparel Pattern Maker to assist us with our Spring '25 pattern making needs.


Independent Contractor Responsibilities:

Providing patterns from design handover through final fit approval for production:

  • Development: Create patterns and technical specifications, ensuring fit consistency across the line.
  • Project Management/Tracking: Use Cotopaxi’s tracking processes to communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Samples: Evaluate fit samples for fit and accuracy of measurements, provide approval and rejection comments on fit samples and pre-production samples, and provide pattern and technical guidance as requested.
  • Fittings: Attend virtual fittings, measure garments, and document/implement changes through pattern adjustments or comments to vendors.
  • Final Approval: Obtain final approval from Fit Manager.


Contractor Requirements:

  • Must be able to exhibit proficiency in apparel pattern making, creating technical specifications and garment measurements, and evaluating fit samples for accuracy to specifications.
  • Must have experience creating knit, woven and outerwear apparel patterns for Outdoor/Athletic brands and experience creating patterns in both men’s and women’s categories.
  • Must have garment fitting experience and be knowledgeable about garment construction, fabrics and trims.
  • Must be well-versed in pattern grading.
  • Must be proficient with: Google, MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, PLM, Pattern Design Software (GerberAccumark Required).
  • Must provide their own computer equipment and MS Office, Adobe Illustrator & GerberAccurmark
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, being able to finalize tasks by predetermined deadlines.
  • Estimate 50-80 hours per month.
